Friends and the community were overwhelmed on Thursday by the Glasgow Warriors rugby team, support staff and helpers carryout a major litter pick in the park and Nature Walk. The group split into 5 groups and tackled all the hot spots and a massive amount of litter was removed. Thanks to Jana and her team for their community support which all stemmed from a recent park walk and Jana seeing the litter. Friends must add that the City Parkies also do a great job, constantly litter picking and removal but concentrating on the popular park areas such as the pond, playing field and kids playground etc. Please be aware this is a continuing unending battle so that today’s clean area will be tomorrow’s mucky place! Never a dull moment but it would be nice to do something more constructive.

Friends want to start 2023 with our first volunteer Saturday on 11th Feb. We’re just getting our tasks sorted but certainly we must clean up the litter that’s gathering along Westland and VPD North and into the park. We do have some leaf clearing around the Fossil Grove building and that’s after removing about 50 barrow loads in Nov. Please join us as usual in front of the FG building to get going at 10am. We are expecting a big turnout from other volunteer groups so you’ll be in good company.
