Friends must thank the volunteers who came out today to help tidy the Fossil Grove and do some litter clearing. The weather was very pleasant and we all worked hard. Our youngest volunteer was 4 and the oldest; well over three score years and ten.

Volunteers from engineering company AECOM work with Friends of Victoria Park to refresh the planters in the bowling greens with some new colourful shrubs and to clear up the weeds from the footpaths around the greens. With the many birds that live in our park, Friends of Victoria Park are indebted to Hessilhead Wildlife for their continuous protection of the birds. Accordingly FoVP have decided to contribute to their cause. So thanks to our members who pay the £10 a year annual subscription. Using a small amount of your subscription we have been able to contribute £150 to Hessilhead Wildlife Rescue Centre (https://www.hessilheadwildlife.org.uk). This Centre aims to rescue, treat, rehabilitate and release birds and animals back to the wild. It has great facilities and experience to treat all species of Scottish wildlife. It attends callouts to rescue birds and animals at VictoriaPark and recently rescued the cygnets following attacks from the pen swan. This is our thank you to them for their great work in our park.
