Friends of Victoria Park
Victoria Park is one of the finest parks in the city. Friends of Victoria Park (FoVP) want to make sure it’s well cared for and improved at a time when the budget for parks is under severe pressure.
The Park dates back to 1887 and more information on the Park's history can be found here.
The aim of FoVP is to advance the education and promote the welfare of the public by supporting, and assisting, in furthering the charitable activities of Victoria Park, by seeking:
Friends of Victoria Park works closely with Glasgow City Council to maintain and improve the natural environment of the park. In particular we consult with the council on grass and vegetation cutting, tree maintenance, pesticide application, litter bin provision, wildlife conservation and infrastructure maintenance.
We help apply for funding for improvements (such as play equipment) in conjunction with local organisations such as Whiteinch Community Council. We are determined to make sure that the former blaes pitches area is fully integrated with the park as beautiful green space.
We organise volunteers for a variety of purposes eg tree/wildflower planting, creating a fernery at the Fossil Grove, carrying-out litter picks and improving wildlife habitats. We also arrange a programme of events throughout the year e.g. bird walks, Christmas tree decorating and a Remembrance event in November.

A short film about the park can be found here.
We are a founder member of the Victoria Park Community Trust (VPCT) which was formed in 2020. This is formed of a number of groups with an interest in the park eg neighbouring community councils, the Fossil Grove Trust and others. The VPCT aims to provide a strategic framework for maintaining and improving the park and has developed a plan for the future of the park.
If you would like to volunteer, please contact us. You can also join our Facebook group. You can also join as a member for £10 per year which helps us fund improvements to the park.
