Victoria Park Community Trust AGM

25/11/2024

In October, VPCT held its AGM and the Chair, Steve Nelson made his Chairs Report using the presentation below. The meeting was well attended and for the first time, was open to the public from which there were several people. Steve obviously talked through his presentation and VPCT believes is self explanatory without his words. You can see the work and improvements VPCT, along with FoVP, have made in the park in the last year which we hope you approve.

Frosty November Weeding

25/11/2024

Yesterday, in the freezing morning 6 hardy Friends volunteered to weed more of the formal beds in the park. We managed to clear 5 more beds before frostbite kicked in and with the aid of lashings of hot coffee, generously provide by Richard, we all thawed out making a full recovery. We hope everyone will enjoy the formal gardens which we’ll be continuing to work on next year. Thanks for all your support and kind words. FoVP

On Sunday, 10th November, Friends held its annual Remembrance Sunday in the park at the Cenotaph. Once again we were honoured to have DR Yevgen Gorash, Chair of the Glasgow Branch of the Association of Ukranians in Great Britain (AUGB) and the eminent lawyer, Gillian Mawdsley, as our speakers. The event was well attended and this year, again, the weather was lovely late Autumn sunshine and not too cold.

Autumn Birdbox Cleaning

11/11/2024

At this time of year the birdboxes need cleaned out after all the family have flown the nest. About half the boxes out of 20 has been used but sadly, and to be expected, there was signs of one or two chicks not surviving and remaining in the nest.
Friends need to clean out the boxes to remove the old nests and reduce disease for Spring next year. Can you see some of the chicks feathers?
