Formal Beds Weeding

Friends thank the volunteers who came out on Wednesday afternoon to start the weeding of the formal flower beds. Funnily enough the Parkies were also out doing exactly the same so park users should see a big improvement although there’s still lots to do. We would also do more today but the forecast is heavy rain.
Some of the formal beds had been planted out with perennial shrubs after Parks had announced several years ago, that they could not maintain all the flower beds every year. Friends had agreed that about half the beds would be planted with shrubs and finished with mulch.
The beds are now becoming weedy and Parks are not clearing these beds.
Therefore Friends will need to carryout the task of weeding and caring for the shrubs every year in order to maintain the appearance of these beds.
